I think it's not only a wonderful idea, but also a wonderful thing that you know yourself well enough to recognize this and want some help with it!
If I was your mom, I'd be proud of you. I think most moms would be. If you don't think it'll go over well with her or you think that she won't understand, then just don't tell her. I'd try to, though. It's easy - just tell her what you've written here!

Try looking at it this way. You are joining this group, that has other people in it with low self esteem. To me it appears as though you are there to help them. ;) As for your mom, you don't think she has gone through this feeling before? Good luck

Be straight out about it. Tell her you think it will help your self esteem. And definately join it's a good thing.

if you feel like you have issues with this, its always a good idea to talk about it with someone. i like the idea that this support group is at your school, so you will be with others your age. go join, it can help.

I think that you should. It will not hurt to have some help and it's not good to keep secrets. When you tell your mom just be hounest and I'm sure she will help you and try to help you understand what to do also. I know it might be scary but just go for it.
