hampsters like the chew and they may not know its your finger they are doing it too. lol. The truth is that any animal can be trained. There are a few simple rules to follow.
1. be patient
2. be consistent
3. be kind.
with these three rules in hand and a little protection such as a leather glove. you will be able to teach your hamster not to bite.
****A few notes about hamsters. they are not social animals naturally. Only though domestication have they learned to be more social. in the wild they are solitary animals coming together for mating and sharing of food and water resources. A good book to help you in training your hamster is "Don't Shoot The Dog" by Karen Pryor. This is a great book on the basics of behavior modification.

Try to leave it alone for a couple days and start introducing yourself slowly by letting the hamster sniff you first.

If you provoked it in some way you can try not doing it again. If it just took a notion to bit try leaving it alone for a few days and than try again. It may have been afraid, uncomfortable or going thru some sort of maturity phase. If nothing else works you will have to just watch the creature or put it down. They do have different temperments.

The only hamsters that don't bite are Dwarf Hamsters.

They have personalities like any other pet. This little guy is either scared by the transfer to your home, pregnant, or tempermental about being handled. Just give him lots of space to play and watch for awhile while he gets used to his new, safe surroundings.

Hamsters and gerbils are the nastiest rodents!
Declaw it, feed it to a python and get a young HOODED RAT, They are smart, affectionate, and easily litter box trained!
They are also loyal and do not need to be caged as they get older. Just keep your bedroom door shut, so the cat doesn't get the rat!

Kill it?
JK I have no idea I've never had a hamster. I would say it might take a while to train a rodent.

Make sure your hands are clean. Use soap and water. Try not bothering it during the day time, because that is their sleeping time. Dont hold them to hard. If they are nervous, the usually pee & poo, so if you are holding them, be gentle or they'll do it on your hands.

you have purchased a hamster that has not been hand tamed. If you do not have the patience to do so yourself, take it back to the store and request one that is hand tame.

Keep your fingers away from the hamster. It's trying to tell you that it doesn't want you around it.
