if you installed it already uninstall your printer driver then reinstall it again.
ifr you didn't install it yet then you have to install the driver ( use the Cd that comes with the machine.
don't connect the Device before askes you
if you don't have the driver go thru this link and download it:
www.canon-europe.com
then click on software download
then choose your printer model
then choose the language and your OS
then download it.

Before you reinstall the software for the printer, be sure you unplug the printer and all its accessories. Power plug, cable, etc.
Then follow instructions to install and then plug them back in when it directs you to. Printers are really funny that way.

p.s. Totally uninstall the software that is in there for the printer before you reinstall.
If all else fales then go to http://www.canon.com and go to the help section for your Model printer.

the printer should come with a cd with the software on it. It should recognise it as soon as u plug the printer in

Thats happened to me before,-just insert the original disc and reinstall the program, it will fix it.
