I can't get death off my mind. I get freaked out, start scraping my right wrist, sometimes cut it with a kinfe like I did today.. I wear a long sleeve shirt or jacket so no one can see. Then my stomach gets upset and my head constantly hurts. I have a fear of needles, but no fear of knives. It burns when I do this, maybe like burning in hell, where I belong anyways since I am a worthless piece of &$#@. Lately I figured i would eat my self to death, had a stick of butter and pound of bacon. Maybe a artery will clog up and finish me off before I do it myself.

you are not a piece of @%$#! you are a human being with painful overwhelming feelings. you do not want to try and eat yourself to death. 1. that is quiite hard to do 2nd the length of time it takes to cause a blockage is a bare minimum is months. besides are you sure in a couple weeks from now you will still feel this way. Suicide is such a permanent solution for a temporary problem. What is hurting you so bad that you are looking at death as your only answer? Do you know what is depressing so bad? Think about the people you would leave behind. How sad would they be. If your feeling bad enough to be hurting yourself then you need to find some professional help. Please i dont know you but i do care whether you die or not.

There are always choices, even when they all seem rotten or too frightening to consider seriously. There is, subtly within what you say, a very thin line and underneath this line is a bitterness oozing through self punishing thoughts. These thoughts are habitual, although the intensity may be increasing, and the threatening nature of them may seem worse.

Think of it as a rubber band, stretching... and the stretching causes a fear of a break in the rubber band... and before the break occurs you think of ways of hurting yourself in hopes that the stretching can be reduced or stopped.

The stretching is some painful and grief ridden memory attempting to surface to conscious awareness... and your MIND uses its habitual methods of diverting your attention... which is why the thoughts seem more intense and of greater threat.

If possible, take a piece of paper and write down every negative thought you can think of. Then look behind each of them for the emotional content that is subtly hidden behind the thoughts. This should fill you with a sadness... which is the tip of an iceberg of grief that may seem bottomless... but it is not. Your MIND will not support this activity, by the way... and all kinds of thoughts will be fed to your brain to divert you from it... but pursue it... for yourself.

Life is tough, and very painful... but most of us have been trained to deny the pain, and pretend that we are not filled with grief.. and this is nonsense. Cry for yourself, for the fact that you have to be here, and have to experience this life.... so, let go of the idea of denying the pain and cry for yourself. Allow yourself to feel as badly as you need to. Grief is the salve of forgiveness, and forgiveness is the only way to achieve peace within oneself.

With each bout of grief we have, we rise in self-forgiveness, and this results in a period of peace. Peace

Hi Patrick, It sounds like you're in a lot of pain. Your profile says that you have OCD, bi-polar, etc. If you've been diagnosed with these conditions then you probably already have various mental health professionals in your life who you could turn to. But Patrick, if you don't feel comfortable talking with one of them, then don't. Find someone else. And keep looking until you do find someone that you feel "gets it". Patrick you don't say how old you are but self harming is more common in young adults or teens who are dealing with a lot of pain. Somehow self harming allows you to be in control of something, when so many other things feel out of control. Talk to someone Patrick - your doctor, your family doctor, a counselor, etc. If you're not sure where to turn, call your local crisis line and they can give you several options to try. Patrick, if you've ever tried suicide before, or have a plan for suicide now, please reach out to someone right away. There is help. And there are people who give a damn. Sincerely, Zenobia

I think you need support and some help. You should go talk to a suicide hotline. Maybe they can refer you to someone to talk to and help you get treatment.

My sympathies. I hope you feel better.
