Mix Borax and sugar in a one to one ratio. Put it around in old plastic containers (like yogurt tubs, etc.) that are secured to the floor and with holes drilled in them that are only big enough for the ants to get in and out of. You can put the ant bait in by removing the container lids, then replace them to ensure your pets don't get into the poison.

I use over n out once a year. It is a good ant killer, and it keeps the ants from coming into your yard for about a year. I have 2 children and lots of pets. They have not been harmed by this in the least. Spread it on the yard and water it in. Inside the borax thing will work good, but there is an ant gel available that makes the ants and roaches sterile, so they cannot reproduce, The pest control guy told me about it, and i used it, but don't remember the name. Call a pest control service and ask them the name. It is non toxic to pets and children as well. Keep all food and sundries in a tight lidded container or Ziploc baggie. Store your extra flour and sugar in the freezer. Hope i helped!!!

Get ant stakes and leave them alone....don't try to clean them away..the point is to give them time to take the stuff to their nest. Only takes 1-2 days, The stakes are not going to be bothered by the cat or rabbit but I don't know if your dog is the kind that will find it and think its a bone (like a Lab puppy).I have cats, dogs, and an indoor rabbit, myself. Put it under a can or something so the dog won't see it but it is still in the path of the ants. Good luck.

keep your house free of crumbs on the floor, and food open and out so you won't draw them to your inside of the house.im not saying you don't keep it clean, but the tinyest piece of food on the floor will have them having thanksgiving.you could buy some boric acid and mix some with some suger place it on a piece of cardboard outside.away from the animals!they will eat the acid and suger and take it back to there nest and kill most of them.also look in you phone book under pest contol and call and ask them if they know of any over the counter stuff you can buy, plus keep your pet's safe.good luck!

terro works well. I use it and have put it under the computer stand and on the tv stand outside the front door, and all. its small containers that you can put up and out of the way of animals. i have a rabbit and a dog, hasnt bother either one, you just have to keep them out of the way (the terro traps). the traps are a liquid trap. seriously i put them out and within one day i stopped seeing ants. the stuff is great!!!!

Ants tend to come and go rather quickly. I don't bother trying to "clean them up". I just find out where they came in (and maybe spray just there) , what they are after and eliminate it. In a day, they usually leave on their own. They invaded my freezer once! It was a pain, but they left.
