My friend said its like soft core porn, but she saw it in a theatre in the 80's and said it was good. What do you think? Is it worth the $30 I would have to pay for it?

I have a copy of it, the purple unrated copy and it is a good film though there is a lot of sex in it. It does however star John Geilgud, Malcolm MacDonald, and Helen Mirren. If you like sex gore, violence and a little history it is worth the money.

VHS is worth that.
DVD it only cost me 19,99 but they didn't know it was the unrated version.

The unedited version of Caligula is definitely better but incoherent with the storyline. Rent it. One viewing is enough. The paperback was co-authored by Gore Vidal, out of print and hard to find. The book is much more informative. I gave copies of the paperback out as Christmas cards in the late 1970s.

No. I'd avoid it. It's anything but history. Here's what:

' Caligula - The Abuse of Power ' - by Anthony Barrett

I was really surprised by this. You can accept lies, you can accept facts. Up to the individual.

God NO!!! it was long and UNSEXY. didn't find it very entertaining or erotic. i remember there being a few 'hardcore' scenes in it. So not worth $30.
