Yes. The type of air conditioners that run on natural gas don't use a freon refrigeration cycle. They use what is commonly called an absorption refrigeration cycle. The most common one uses something called lithium bromide.
These are often used in large buildings and in places where low pressure steam is available. In the process, they produce chilled water which is in turn used to cool air. And thus they can be loosely called an air conditioner.
when I was growing up we had a gas heated refrigerator that use ammonia as the regrigerant, and again it was an absorption refrigeration cycle.
I did a yahoo search with key words absorption+refrigeration cycle. You will get several good hits that describe the process. I've cut and pasted one link, but I'm not sure it will work.

Yes they were common in the St.Louis area 40 years ago. Also there were Natural gas refrigerators. Both of these used an "Ammonia Coil" instead of Freon, as bad as freon is , ammonia was worse.

RV A/Cs use either LP gas, or 12 volts or 120 volts or all of them.

Gas--as in fuel to operate?--- Yes--Some are setup to run on natural gas-- some on L.P.(propane gas)-- some on "gas well" gas. There are other ways also(solar-water-bio-gas) but this gets deep . Yes --is your answer. Have a good one-----------.

yes,, jsut check the ones in RVs and motor homes!! they run on DC, AC and LP!!
