I have suffered from cold sores on and off my whole life (thanks mom!) The best thing I've found to get rid of them is Witch Hazel. I used to get this stuff from the doctor that worked really well,I was reading the product info and the main active ingreediant in it was Witch Hazel. So I just started using Witch Hazel and it worked the same. The cold sore usually clears up in a couple days. It also helps with the pain. It's not good to use any sort of lip balm on a cold sore as it will mega spread them. Also you shoud throw away any makeup that has come in contact with the cold sore as it is now contaminated and will continue to infect you. good luck:)

If the sore is on your lower lip and not on your top lip, you may be a lip chewer. If so, stop chewing your lower lip and the sores will stop.
In your case, if you are chewing both lips then stop it, otherwise seek medical attention.
I'm sure Abreeva has it's place, but it's a heavily marketed product which is just not necessary in some cases.

Carmex does nothing for me. I use something called Lysine+ made by Quantum. I bought it at a local pharmacy(Rite Aid). Also something that really helps me if I have cold sores or cancar sores is Lysine. You can get that in the vitamin section of a pharmacy. It comes in pill form. Take more than it says to take. Your problem should be gone in a day or two max!!

I use a combination of this stuff called zilactin on the sore and carmex on the rest of my lips. Remember that it is herpes and it spreads so if you touch the applicator tip to the sore and then the rest of your lips it will def. spread.

Try washing mouth with warm salt water several times for a couple of days. That is an old caribbean secret. May sting. Works great.

I was gonna suggest Carmax, but if it didn't work . . . Maybe you didn't put enough on. Also, when your lips are really chapped, that sometimes mean that you're dehydrated. Go drink some water!

Try a little tea tree oil. Seems to heal all sores up quickly.
