we read about 1000 words per minute, computers read millions. when you dealing with arithmitic, computers beat us bad. how are our minds better than computers and how are we different. some people want to succeed in life but robots could take that oppurtunity away.

Computers actually have few advantages over humans. They can be built to withstand somewhat harsher environments. They are almost unimaginably faster processing commands at rates of hundredths of billionths of a second. And they have a much more reliable rate of repeatability.
Humans can actually think. Computers cannot do anything beyond addition or subtraction without a great amount of programming. Multiplication and division are done by various algorithms of addition and subtraction though done VERY quickly. Computers are limited by their programming and hardware. Humans physiology won't ever change much, but we can make tools such as the computer. Computers don't make tools. Any limitation we have, we can build some tool for...or almost any. Our minds don't have a known limitation short of death and disease. We can even make "jumps" outside of our known knowledge to learn new things. That is far beyond any computer. I could go on, but I think that I made my point. We win.

Computers are being programmed to do more and more human mental functioning, but they can do no more than the sum of the parts of their programming. Some people aren't much better than that, sad to say, but the rest of us can come to "understandings", which is a step or two above drawing conclusions or deductive reasoning that can be programmed into a computer for calculable responses. It is in that area that, no matter how "advanced" computers are programmed to be, they can only do what they're instructed to do. Again, I've given short IQ tests to physicians at a health fair, and have been scared shi-less to see how much reasoning or intuitiveness is beyond their capabilities. Now, I'm not speaking about all physicians. Just the small sample I did several years ago. So, I do think that the human mind can come to "understandings" (for lack of a better word here) that computers cannot. True, as time goes on, people can continually program more and more into the computers of "new ages", but still, the computer can only do what the human tells it to do. God Bless you.

We made computers, we control computers. Computers are just tools. A computer cannot work for thousands of people. Computers have to get the command the person working on the computer. Computers only work with on & off, yes & no, 0 &1. We are smarter.

I doubt you really believe that. They're dumb machines. They don't work unless you make them. They aren't capable of original thought. And they are always going to need a human to make them and keep them ... going. Got it?
The day you just see machines running everything is the day we all moved on to something better.

Computers do only what we tell them to do. 'Nuff said.
