My friends husband just came home from a 6 month deployment in Iraq and says he wants a divorce...out of nowhere. They have been married for 3 years and have no kids. He told her that he is in love with someone else, and no longer wears his wedding ring. She is devastated. What can she do to him, seeing that he is in the military? Isnt there some law against cheating in the military?

If he was cheating with another member of the military, she can definitely get him in trouble. There are rules against fraternizing in the military.

Tell your friend to try and talk her husband into changing his mind. If she is not able to, it would be most appropriate and perfectly sensible for her to dump this man who does not love her. DIVORCE him, get alimony from him, forget all about him, and start life afresh. She should throw him out of her life and her mind without wasting any more time. Why should she even think of a man who does not love her? Why pine for a man who does not deserve her love? Let her purge him from her memory, like so much filth. That's the right thing to do and she should do it at the soonest.

She is obviously young and has no kids. That's excellent. With youth on her side, she should marry and settle down with a kind, affectionate and caring man and start life afresh. But she should not rush into this new relationship. This time, she should be very careful in choosing the right man for her and should also seek the advice of elders in the family about her new relationship. Men can put on one personality before marriage, and be completely the contrary after marriage. She should talk more and more, meet her prospective husband, several times, go out with him, seek answers to as many of her doubts and apprehensions as possible, so that she is able to get as many details about his real personality as possible BEFORE MARRIAGE to him.

Even if your friend is not so young, there is no reason why she should not try to find a suitable life partner and seek re-marriage. Youth is certainly not a pre-condition for a happy married life.

I wish your friend happiness and God's blessings in everything she does. She will find the right man very soon.

Sure, she could be very devastated. I feel for her. Sounds like the only thing for her to do is Move On. He does not want her anymore and she should definitely get on with her life.
I suggest she go see his Commanding Officer and report him. There could be some kind of military charges against him for doing such a thing. Just remember he is a G.I. G.I. stands for government issue. He belongs to Uncle Sam and is supposed to go by Uncle Sam's rules and procedures. Good Luck with it!!

My boyfriend is in the army, and they just recently caught someone in Iraq cheating on his wife, I definitely know that they have a zero tolerance against cheating, if she would go to his commanding officer they could possibly take rank and some money from him...it's worth a shot!

The last I knew cheating was an article 15. Call up JAG and ask them the defenition of cheating. I did that one time and they told me that you could see your husband laying on a couch next to another woman naked, but unless you see penetration, it is not cheating.

Mybe so but don't expect the military to do anything about it. Seems they don't much care about your morals so long as you do your job. while on duty.
