I think that we would have to deal with Iraq in a couple years if we just left. Another point is that rebuilding a country takes a great deal of time. Another point is that World War II, the war with the German and Japanese Nazis, really began with a "whimper" in 1928. It did not begin with Pearl Harbor. It began with the Japanese invasion of China. It was a war for f ourteen years before America joined it. It officially ended in 194 5 - a 17 year war - and was followed by another decade of US occupation in Germany and Japan to get those countries reconstructed and running on their own again ... a 27- year war. . . . . what do you think?

No, not right now. The "Evil Liberal Media" says the plan is starting to work. But I think if we did decide to leave, that would be a decision to avoid problems in Iraq that would last more than 2 years. And when are you counting as the start of this war? Sept, 1990 - making it a 16 year war so far?

well, as a democrat, i am all for us getting our troops out of iraq as soon as possible.

however, we started this huge mess in the nation. I believe we have several options, but here are the two "main" ones

1. stay in iraq until "the job is finished." - this is the one that i hope does NOt happen. however, as long as we have repulicans, this will prolly be what happens. basically, they want to stay in iraq until all of the violence is stopped. this could take years.

2. leave - my most favorite plan, because i think it would benefit america. however, it may not be what's best for america. i think the problems in iraq have shifted from ppl who hate america to ppl who hate the sunni's or shi'as. it has changed a lot, and i think you will notice a lot more civillian targets then US troop targets. however, since america is offering the security, of course we get in the middle of it. i think leaving would hurt iraq though, and the reason is simple.. they won't have enough security and a civil war will break out. now if you ask me, i think a civil war will erupt, or is going to get worse.

personally, i am for doing whatever it takes to make iraq stable.. in this case, dividing the nation into 3 nations.. although i like the idea, it is racially dividing it, and i absolutely hate that. however, if that's what it takes to make the fighting stop, then that's what needs to be done.

we need to focus on getting our troops out, but keeping iraq a free, and safe nation. we may leave and iraq will be "free" but there will still be the civil war that we have to worry about.

iraq has gone way beyond a point of fixing the nation i think. if we leave.. there will still be the civil war.

to answer ur question.. i think we should just pack up and leave. however, this is something that must be thoroughly thought about. maybe it's not such a good idea. we need lots of opinions on this.

No. I don't think we should leave Iraq with the job not finished. I'm not happy that more and more reserves have to be called up and that our soldiers are having their deployments lengthened or being redeployed shortly after returning home, but I believe it is necessary. If we leave Iraq now, or in the near future, you are correct in saying that we'll have to go back in a couple of years. Look at Korea and Viet Nam and the first Gulf War. Let's not make the same mistakes again.

The U.S. went in to take out Hussain (for whatever reason that was) and we've accomplished that. We've stayed long enough for Iraq to form its own government too. They're on the verge of a civil war - but there is nothing we can do about that. We should leave and let the people of Iraq govern their own way. Look at the history lesson of the Vietnam war. We should pull out. We should be protecting our borders and tracking down terrorists from the home front. I don't deny that the U.S. has a serious problem with fanatics that would like to see us wiped off the face of the earth. But we should deal with it from home. We need to strengthen our borders, improve our military and technical power, and take care of our own people.

What maximum folk don't comprehend regarding the warfare in Iraq is they're going to never substitute! those every physique is scuffling with a holy warfare (Jihad), you may could desire to convince them that their faith is a lie, solid success with that. i develop into there and that i will help you recognize first hand, they do unlike us and don't elect us there. the only reason troops are nonetheless in Iraq is by using the fact the Saudis have a ship load of money and impression over American politics. If usa had yet another oil source issues could be diverse, yet regrettably that's no longer the case.

We cannot pull out now that weve completely fuucked the country. It was the most stable middle eastern country before the invasion. Saddam Hussein may have been a tyrant and a very bad person but his country had no terrorism or civil war. And no weapons of mass destruction.

Well Vietnam has thrived but you won't get to rebuild this country using their oil money and controlling the world's oil market if you pull out of this one.
