Sexing hamsters, for the idiots (except 1 person) who answered this, has nothing to do with having sex. It's how you tell a BOY from a GIRL. Idiots.

To the question asker- once you now how to tell a male from a female in adults, it's actually pretty easy to tell the babies apart. You will want to start checking at about 2 weeks, then again at 3 weeks just to make certain. They should be seperated by 4 weeks at the latest.

In girl babies, you will notice two dots close to the tail on the underside of their bellies. The two dots will be very close together. This goes for both syrian & dwarves.

With male dwarves, there are 3 dots. There is one near the middle of his belly, which is a scent gland. Then there are two under the tail, but they are further apart than a girls would be.

With male syrians, there are only 2 dots, situated under the tail, and both a bit further apart than on a female.

Both male syrian & dwarf hamsters have a visable bump under their tail when they are sitting up on their hind legs. These are the testes, and won't be -as- visable when they are running around or looking at them from the underside.
