Kidding. Nobody knows. Ballet was not really invented, ballet is a form of dance and nobody invented that, either. At the beginning, dance had a purpose different from having fun: rituals. It was a way to prepare for war, a way to prepare for going hunting, a way to chase away the bad spirits etc. Then it became a form of having fun. Later, it was turned into art.
