No, if you can get your blood pressure under control by loosing weight or other means, you don't need to take medication any longer. You should be monitoring your BP regularly, even on medication to make sure it is staying within normal levels, and talk to your doctor before you think you can wean off it.

I have been taking a diuretic for about 3 years now. I was able to stop when I was going through Chemo because my blood pressure was low, but now I'm back on.
