I am sick and tired of my Dell computer. It's a p.o.s. and keeps getting major virus' (no i dont ever go on porn sites) and it's just not what i wANT. I am looking into getting a laptop, but have never had one. Can you recommend one for me? Basically around $800-900. One that can store a lot of music, as i want to have my itunes files on it. And that is just overall a nice, fast laptop. NO i do NOT want a Mac!! So that's outta the question.

If you decide to switch over to a laptop, keep your hardware needs in mind.

Lots of storage for your files. Don't skimp on sound quality and ask about external speaker connections.

Remember that you may need to manually switch drives to change from one media to another. It's easy to do, but a few people see it as an inconvenience.

When you do buy your new computer- First thing to do is install a good anti-virus program and up date it weekly. Even the best computer can be trashed without virus, spy ware and ad ware protection.

I am as adament as you are about not having a Mac! I have had a Toshiba for over two years now and I absolutely worship it - never had any big problems at all. Plus, I have around 10 Gigs of itunes music on it. It runs so fast too. Recently stores like Circuit City and Best Buy or whatever have been advertising new Toshibas in your price range with nice size hard drives. Check the Sunday paper for their advertisements and hopefully you can find one. Hope that helps!! :)

800 900 hun bucks? good luck. only things costing that cheap are youre junk dells. gonna have to spend at least a g (1000 bucks) to get something decent without an celeron chip in it.

but if i were you i'd look into an hp-i believe comp usa and even best buys (try frys first tho above all else) have hp's for around 1000 with lots or memory etc.

i own 4 laptops. each serves a different purpose-the one i use for similar purposes you want it for is a hp ze series-i'd start there.maybe a vaio or a toshiba-but that's out of your price range.

If your current computer keeps getting viruses what makes you think that just because you have switched to a laptop that the laptop won't get any?

Just get a good anti-virus program, use it on your current computer, and be happy with what you have, and save your money by not buying the laptop.

Its not the brand, its the way you have it set up. you get nothing for nothing, so buy a quality anti virus and keep it updated. get the settings to your like and leave them.A computer is only a machine, its you that's in control
But if you want another check out this site.

You'll get all the latest reviews and an up to date price.
Think of it this way there are loads of computer brands on the market but there is only a handful of people who manufacture the components to go inside

well if you do not want MAC then i guess the second choose should be HP i have my self and it is pretty cool they even have invented a new one with cam already on the screen and it is really cool and not expensive but in the end .. getting viruses into your computer has nothing to do with the computer may be you need to save your money and just install a new software good luck ..

altough you have had a bad expirience with dell i strongly encourage you to pick up a dell laptop dell and mac are really the big names in laptops when it comes to music and other multimedia stuff. IBM(lenovo) is more bussiness oriented and my personal feeling is that HP/ compaq just isnt as solid.

just take a look at this: http://www.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/entnb?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs
