I agree with lissa. I don't paint my daughters' nails and they are 2 1/2 and 1 1/2. I paint their toenails because it's more convienent. She is old enough. Just use something that doesn't chip and make sure you do it while she's sleeping. If you do it while she's awake it's just a waste of time.

I have a 4 year old daughter and believe me the time will come that she will constantly ask you to paint her nails and you will find yourself telling her why not to paint them! My daughter ALWAYS wants her nails painted. It is fun at times and creates quality time, but sometimes when you are scrubbing the toilet while doing the dishes, and talking on the phone on an important call, all while having a baby on your leg and a 3 or 4 year old crying to have her nails painted, you'll wish you hadn't even introduced the idea of nail polish!

You really shouldn't paint her fingernails until she is old enough to understand not to bite them...maybe between the ages of 3 and 5? Most nail polishes today aren't really harmful, but the removers are...so I wouldn't do it if I were you.

Your baby is 8 months, she doesn't need her nails painted. You know how often a baby puts their fingers in their mouths and polish chips off, your child is going to eat that everytime her fingers hit her mouth.
Wait until she is older and doesn't use her fingers for picking up food and putting her fingers in her mouth all the time.

I don't paint my daughter's nails yet and she's 21/2. Aren't our children exposed to enough toxins and chemicals? If you're dead set on painting her nails, look at www.aquarella.com. It's a little pricey, but the nailpolish is odorless, non-toxic and quick drying. I've tried the system and it looks great.

I would never paint my little girl's nails. It's just too "adult". There are too many crazy people out here to "make" your child up like that. I think that you should wait until she's about 6 or 7 at least... and I still think that is young. Be careful.

I don't think its a good idea to paint a baby's nails...baby's constantly have their hands in there months and I wouldn't want my daughter to be eating finger nail polish chips.

No, it is not OK.
Infants of that age are very delicate. They are already overloaded, because of our high-tech, industrialized lifestyle, with thousands of chemicals that they would not have encountered even a hundred years ago. About 1000 new chemicals are added to our environment every year while, as far back as the early 1980s, mothers’ milk in the U.S. already contained measurable quantities of 192 industrial chemicals.
Now, knowing this, do you want to add to your child's already enormous toxic overload?
Let us say this child develops leukemia a little bit down the road. Would you be able to live with yourself then?

I suggest you shouldn't paint ur baby's nails util she is atleast 2 yrs. old. Because you need to make sure that ur child does't eat it off. All nail polishes(dosen't matter expensive or inexpensive) have chemicals which stand a chance to harm your darlig baby's health. I'm sure you wouldn't wanna take that risk.

if you feel the need for color, use a non-toxic colored marker that is washable - babies chew too much and the chemicals in fingernail polish are bad for her - and the nail polish remover is toxic to her skin. When your girl is 3 or 4, then children's nail polish is fine.
