The next 6 years will give us more of an idea on Pujols place in history...His first 6 have been amazing, but the next 6 should be the prime years of his career...Then he well have 6 to 8 more years after to cement his legacy..

Albert Pujols - career -
BA-332 OB%-418 SLG-627

Only three players in the history of baseball have career batting averages over .330, OB% over .400 and a SLG over .600..Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Ted Williams..That is some pretty good company.

Then again Pujols might not even be the greatest Cardinal, they have had a couple of pretty good ones...

Rogers Hornsby - 7 time batting champion - 2 triple crowns - his 358 career BA is the second highest in history -
Career
BA-358 OB%-424 SLG-577 HR-301
career highs
BA-424 - OB%-497 - SLG-756 - HR-42

Stan Musial - 7 time batting champion
Career
BA-331 OB%-417 SLG-559 HR-475 H-3630 R-1949 RBI-1951
Career highs
BA-376 - OB%-450 - SLG-702 - HR-39

Not unless he improves dramatically. He is not in the same league as Ruth, Mays, Mantle, Gehrig. He is starting to look like a hall of famer and one of those guys you consider when you talk about all time greats but at 1b he has a whole lot of compitition there and at current rate will wind up around 10-12 or lower of all time great 1bs. Assuming he doesn't fall apart around 35 which is so common for baseball players past and present.

Harry Agganis was a young kid from Lynn, Ma. who had the best of promise as a rookie for the Red Sox. But one day, he ended up dying because of a massive pulmonary embolism. Roy Campanella was a star with the Brooklyn Dodgers but became crippled in an auto mobile accident, unable to use his hands or walk. These guys are some of the stories that Albert needs to learn from because he has the skills but he needs to conduct his life in a safe manner and stay healthy.

no he is a great hitter and a decent defensive player but he is not going to be considered the best ever over people like Stan Musial and Nolan Ryan and Babe Ruth and so on and so forth. he might lead in the home run category but other than that he will not be considered the best of the best!

i think of he will save convalescing his stats and consistent with danger win yet another international sequence, so confident. i think of he ought to finally end up being in the right 5 in HR's by skill of the top of his profession.....till he gets injured.

I hope not. Whatever happened to American players in America's past-time? I'm sick of MLB taking uneducated losers from other countries who never went to school, just played baseball every day of their life and become millionaires. Habla Ingles?

of course, he is already on pace to break all the records, he will win the triple crown someday, and as long as he stays healthy, there is no pitcher in the majors who can stop him.
