We want to limit access to websites and limit the time the computer is available (power). We don't want to block specific websites, just all sites that contain pornography and violence. Is there any software that can do this without us having to add specific websites to block?

If your running a computer with Windows, use the Content Advisor in the Control Panel/Internet Options/Content, you can set parameters for Sex, Nudity, Foul Language and Violence.

It can be done and then a password set so you can turn it off with you and your spouse are using the computer, just don't use a password your children can figure out, there is also freeware on line, NetNanny is good, sometimes your ISP can provide some kind of software

I would recommend you using Bitdefender 9 Internet security.. Offers all of your security needs in one. It is by far one of the best antivirus/internet security programs i have ever used. I've tested many. The Parental control features include a Web Time limiter,Web control feature, and application control features. All that will allow you to set a password for. I highly recommend.

There are programs, like netnanny that others have mentioned. There is no perfect solution though, some things can slip through. The only real way to do it is to monitor their online time until they're old enough to make the proper decisions
