Who would be so stupid that they would spend $70 million of taxpayer $ investigating a Pres. and find nothing?

You have to realize that they probably didn't spend $70 million. There are probably that many governement employees feeding from the government trough that instead of doing their regular jobs (whatever that consists of) they were sent to do the job of investigating a president. We probably didn't hire investigators, lawyers, consultants, lab people and all of those professions, THEY ALREADY WORK FOR THE GOVERNMENT. We just gave them a different job to do. So that $70 million that was spent for that purpose will be spent for something else tomorrow, the next day and the day after. It's just our taxpayer dollars at working hiring a whole slew of government workers that feed the off the political bureauocracy day to day, month to month. In 1920 1 in 10 people worked for the govenment. I think I heard recently that as many as 3 in 5 work directly or indirectly for the government today. Most of them probably do anything important they're just feeding from the government trough. So if they happen to go out and investigate anything then one day this month you're probably getting your money's worth for your tax payer dollar.

Well, if it was an honest investigation, then the goal was to determine if there was something there to find or not.

Only a rigged investigation guarantees finding a problem before it even begins to look.
