change all your fluids such as motor oil, transmission, and fuel filter, air filter and do a tune up, fuel injector cleaner a MUST. Dunno if you do regular maintence on it but trust me just basics like this will do a big difference on gas milage. I have a 99 s-10 4 cylinder and it also use to be a gas guzzler but i bought it used and the previous owner never did any type of maintence so i did it all myself and now that thing gets really good milage and no more vibrations on that lil motor. My sister also has a 98 blazer and her's does not get even that close milage as yours but i did alot of stuff to it and it gets decent milage about 18 city and like 22 highway. But thats what it does straight from the factory with a 4.3 v-6. I probably get like 20-22 city and like 25-26 highway. Get a K&N filter they are worth every penny i bought mine for like 40 bucks or so and its awsome alot more pep in my lil motor

If it is a 4.3 engine, I would check the fuel pressure. See if it holds pressure, and how much. You may have a leak in the fuel injection system, the pressure line, or the return line.( you won't see a leak because it will be inside the intake manifold) All of these are common on 4.3 engines. It will burn some of the extra fuel, and if it is real bad, it will dump the rest in the oil. Most of the time it will set an oxygen sensor code.

you could have a leak...10 miles for a quarter tank is crazy. you need to have that looked at. do you smell gas around the truck?

EEWWWEE! Are you sure you are not leaking gas? You should be getting about 20 highway miles per gallon. Check tire pressure and get a tune-up. Good Luck!

my beau just had this problem. it was one of the 3 oxygen sensors. take it to auto zone (if you have one in your area) or an auto parts store. they have this machine that you just plug in under your steering column and it diagnosis the problem for free. i bet its one of those sensors, and they are relatively cheap, like 50 bucks for all 3 of them on ebay.
