I saw it a few years ago, and it was really big. It was a girl who grew up in an orphanage and never got adopted so she just started helping with the other kids. One day a couple (I think) came to adopt and the man fell in love with her. Or something happened to his wife. I can't remember all the details. It was set in war time I think. The doctor was addicted to eather(sp?) or something and finally overdosed. That was one of the scenes I remember. Any help is appreciated!!!!

It is defintely called Cider House Rules with Toby McQuire, Michael Caine and Charlize Thoron. It is based on a novel by John Irving titled the same. (some of your memories are just a bit off).
