I have to pick a topic for a project my govt class -- which one should I do? Embryonic stem cell research OR assisted suicide? Which one do you think I could find more info on? It's a HUGE, semester long project. Thanks for the advice!

I would probably go with stem cell research because the topic is more recent than the other one. Since it's more recent you'll have a better chance of getting more and updated info. Plus you can add subtopics on how christopher reeves and michael j. fox have been following closely on the subject to. Or how mel gibson is so against it. Since it's a semester long project the stem cell research has many branches you can pull ideas from. The topic is highly controversial..religion vs science ooooh how exicting.

Stem cell research is the more current, therefore "hotter", controversy.

Besides...I think a great many people are pretty much in FAVOR of assisted suicides, these days...

...if you're poor, or black, or Muslim, or elderly, or a Democrat, or in the military, or gay, or...ah, well, it's an ever-lengthening list...

Assisted suicide is actually the most controversial, but you should pick the one, if either, that you can be an advocate for, as it might result in a more objective paper than one where emotional bias could more seriously affect your research and conclusions.

Either subject will inundate you with info... Done to death, no pun intended... Look into each of them and write about whichever you find more interest in...

Dr. Kevorkian is an interesting character in the assisted suicide debate. Though he is a sad case now. He used to live downt he street from me and eat in my restaurant, so that would probably be my choice, but whichever you fancy most.

How about 'don't-take-aspirin-when-you're-pregnant' for a topic.
