1. Get a Game Boy or a PSP or some kind of video game system. A Gamecube is great for someone your age.
2. Maybe a box set of DVD's of your favorite TV shows.
2. Have a phone near you all the time.
3. Be sure to play catch with your mom or whoever is going to be in the house with you. It always leads to great conversations.
4. Have a computer nearby to do Yahoo Answers :-Þ
5. Go to the local arts and crafts store(Michael's, etc.) and get some kind of hobby kit, like a small knitting kit or building a race car model or whatever you're into.
6. Have a pad of paper and a pencil so you can start writing a small story or two, or poems. Whatever you feel like.

Study Prealgebra. And get ready for algebra 1. 12 is the perfect age to get all the laws firmly planted in your mind. Just the basic order of operations and exponents. Trust me, you'll thank yourself later if it becomes easy to you now. Don't wait until you're 15 because by that time, you'll have other interests. At least if you have the basic foundation at 12, Calculus will be a breeze. When you get tired of math, read a good book, like Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. I wish I knew about this book when I was 12. I wouldn't be scrambling to fix up my credit while paying back student loans at 29! If you feel like your brain is getting overloaded, listen to some music like Black Eyed Peas. They're a lot of fun!

Do you have a computer at home? You can play games online or do research and look up all sorts of cool and interesting stuff :)
Some web sites have entire books that you can read too.Or you can start a blog and write about your surgery and maybe help another person who is going through what you are.

are you mobile, can you walk, are you able to move about, or will you be bed ridden, if so you could start a journal of the events of your life,, use a video camera, to highlight the surgical proceedures, interview the surgeons, nurses, other patients, turn your hospitalization into a positive, not a negative, then sell your story to the hbo channel ,retire on the proceeds and live happily ever after,

Rest and eat healthy food. Talk to your friends, use the internet, read a good book, talk to your family, try puzzles, go to this site if you're able to sit at a computer, listen to music you like, day dream, organize small things in your room, stay calm so you can heal faster. Good luck.
