Nova's are good cars. The front frame section and suspension will swap with 67-69 camaro & possibly newer models for better handling.

If it were mine, I would pull that 250 inline six out & drop in a 4.3 v6 with a 5 speed.
I used to street race with a 72 nova SS 350 4 speed. It was deadly in an 1/8 mile run!

Pretty nice car that should be reliable.

It be a really nice car with a small block. The only thing you need to find is the small block frame mounts, the trans will bolt right up or a big block would fit.. Make it a decent V8 like a 350 with aluminum heads and a huge cam and 4 barrel.Hit it with a 200 horse spray of nitrous oxide and see what gives up the ghost first,Im guessing the trans. Thats always fun.

Keep it clean and enjoy it for years. There is an outfit called Clifford performance that SPECIALIZES in performance pieces for 6 bangers. You can make that baby scream with the stuff they sell.

P.S. Hey Mr fixit, here's a fact for you from wikipedia

A popular urban legend asserts that the Nova sold poorly in Latin America because the phrase no va means "does not go" in Spanish. In reality, the Spanish no va and nova are as different as the English no table and notable. [1] The word nova exists in Spanish with the same meaning as in English. Also, the Spanish word for 'new' (nuevo or nueva) is cognate to nova, which originally meant "new" in Latin . Finally, as NOVA was a brand of gasoline sold for many years by PEMEX in Mexico, the largest of all Spanish-speaking Latin American countries, it is clear that this urban legend, while perhaps entertaining, is utterly baseless.

Funny story about the NOVA. This has been verified upon my trips to the GM plant in Mexico...
when the geniuses at GM thought up the name they sent it to Mexico to sell it didn't no one wanted a NOVA NO VA = NO GO en espanol....

I like it and the straight 6 motor is a very dependable motor, it may not have alot of power but they do last for a long time.

How many miles on the 6? I have had several of them and they were all good for about 250K miles with no problems. They have plenty of torque for a car that's under 3400lbs.

Sounds ok so far, but where's the picture of it? Would have to see it before I would make final judgement on your car. Too bad it doesn't have an 8 in it.
