AA - Associates of Arts Degree Usually from a Two Year Junior (Community) College in onw of the Humanities (Art, English, Liberals Arts, etc.)

AS - Associates of Science Same as AA except usally give for a more specific disipline (Science, Business, Accouting)

BA and BS would follow the same pattern but are usally earned from a four year Univeristy.

After earning your BA/BS you can take even more classes and write a thesis to earn a Master's in you disipline.

Magna *** Laude or such are Latin Honors awards typically earned for maintaining a certain level of grade point and/or submitting special projects/papers.

AA and AS are Associate of Arts and Associate of Science. The Associate means you have received credit for 4 full time semesters/2 years/60 credits total. BA and BS are BAchelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science. Bachelor stands for 8 full time semesters/4 years/ 120 credits total. Arts is for courses considered in the arts, such as art, music, social science. S stands for the sciences, such as math, accounting, physical science. Masters is one year beyond in your field of study, and is often required for a teaching position.

A certificate program is usually a combination of college credit and non-credit courses which prepares you for certification in a field such as Veterinary Technician or Medical Assistant.

the *** laudes are levels of excellence on your grades, kind of like making the honor roll or high honor roll. *** laude is usually 3.0 gpa (grade point average), magna *** laude is usually 3.5 gpa and I believe summa *** laude is 3.7 or 4.0. 4.0 is the highest.

*** laude is graduating with a high average. I think it varies from college to college.
AA is associate degree but not sure about AS (associates is two years of college)
BA is Bachelor of Arts
BS is Bachelor of SCience (both are four year degrees)
Master's degree is gotten after you get your BA degree, you specialize in something.
Doctorate, or PHD, is after Master's and you get real specialized and have to write a doctoral thesis which is really hard but then you get to put DR. in front of you name!

"***" means with. I think it is a Latin word and very old. It's not a dirty word. "*** laude" means with honors. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
