apparently, you have this conglomerate genre formed in your mind. What is "classic rock, hair metal, etc." those are two different genres, not counting the "etc" part.
classic rock: Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Cheap Trick, Cream, Bad Company, Dire Straits
hair metal: Poison, Motley Crue, Cinderella, Winger, Twisted Sister, Warrant, Great White
