The chance of it were just upgraded a bit , at least on the Mets side. The Mets have just traded for Sean Green to play outfield which should really help out especially with Floyd being out and not really knowing how serious the injury is. The speculation is that the Mets are going to be acquiring David Wells with the Red Sox being dealt a near death blow this weekend by the surging NY Yankees.
I think it is possible to have another subway series. The Cardinals who are not what they once were are still a dangerous squad. Pujols is one of the best hitters in the game a with Role and a healthy Jimmy Edmonds it is a pretty formidable 345 in the line up. Carpenter and Marquis give the Cards an edge in the starting pitching department ,but Wagner is a lot better then what the Birds have and Heilman is a good 8th inning guy. I think the Yankees are going to roll from here on out. Their lineup is a minefield for other teams pitching. I have not seen anything like it. With Matsui and possibly Sheffield coming back , they can not be pitched to, Damon(CF) , Jeter(SS) , Abreu(RF) , ARod(3B) , Giambi(1b), Sheffield(DH) Matsui(LF), Posado(C) , Cano(2b). It is impossible. Your number 9 hitter is hitting 320. I do not care what anyone says the Red Sox are a good team, and the Yankees made them look like they were minor leaguers this weekend. The White Sox are not the Same team they were last year. The Tigres are young and have nice pitching and a great manager, but are not ready to take on that Juggernaut, The Twins wold have been a handful if Liriano had not gotten hurt. The Angels always give the Yankees problems, but with Colon not the same and really only Figgens and Guererro as the to Major offensive threats . I think The Yankees have an edge. However Weaver is good and they have the best bullpen in Baseball I still predict the Yankees coming out of the AL. The Mets Stars are young and I am not sure how Wright and Reyes will perform. Beltrans one post season appearance is the stuff that legends are made. It is going to be interesting. Larussa can manage and they are a veteran team with a ton of experience. I am leaning towards the Cardinals. It is possible and certainly is going to be fun to watch especially if you are a New Yorker and a big baseball fan. My final guess would be no , to many things have to go right for both teams, but even with the thought of it being a real reality has me psyched then usual for October.

yes it's always possible and with the mets and yankees both leading their respective divisions it is an even better possibility. It will come down to the depth of the rosters and the performance of the pitching staff for both teams to make it that far. Tom Glavine just went down with a blood clot but will only miss 2 starts but how he reacts to the injury will definitly be a factor. Also Pedro Martinez injured his calf recently and it is unclear how long it will take to heal but the Met's are managment is optimistic that it will be soon. The Yankees could also get Hideki Matsui and Gary Sheffield back soon to add to their already potent lineup but they also will have to wait and see if they perform well and that clearly adds to the possibility that the Yanks could make it to the WS.
