I believe she is. I don't buy this "she has a crush on Charlie Brown" nonsense because Rosie O'Donnell used to gush about Tom Cruise on her talk show.
Now, I can't imagine that Charles Schulz intended it. However, add it up: The Birkenstocks. The male type shirts. The female attentive sidekick. She seemed more experimental than the other characters. Unusual attention towards one male character, but shuns all other males and gets along well with the female characters.

As far as I'm to understand Peppermint patty is a not a lesbian. People will ususallly pull up the excuse about Marcia always being with her and calling her sir (Which she hated at 1st by the way). In all acuality Peppermint Patty is a confused litte girl (how many time did she refer to Snoop as "the funny looking kid with the big nose") In all reality PP had a crush on Charlie Brown. There were a set up strips that had CB in the hospital, and PP almost kind of admits to liking him. On top of that PP had a short crush on Pigpen, when CB set them up on a date for Valentines day. Also in the animated cartoon Bon Voyage Charlie Brown PP ends up the liking her host parents kid "Pierre", even though he likes Marcie. PP in her naturally confused state doesn't notice this even when she see's Marice and Pierre holding hands.
So to answer your question. No I don't think PP is a lesbian or supposed to be a lesbian, just a little odd, and confused

Sorry, I had to chuckle. Peppermint Patty had a thing for Charlie Brown, but Marcie always called the poor child "sir". I don't think she's a lesbian, but she could be bi.

Patty is a tomboy plain and simple. it has been the sterotype for a long time that all tomboyish girl in comics and comic strips are lesbians. such as Spinelli of Recess, Raven of Teen Titans, and Mandy of Billy and Mandy.
I would think girls would find offense to the idea that if a girl likes to climb trees, play sports or many wears pants or shorts. she must be a lesbian. As if a straight girl can't enjoy these things.

No, they were all little kids below the age of puberty, so they did not have any sexual desires yet. Patty makes an awfully poor avatar for lesbians-- she always fell asleep in class and never knew the right answer! Are you saying this is what lesbians are like...?

More like a "real, tough, tomboy" but, if you have seen either the episode of Family Guy where Peter goes to meet his ex-girlfriend and it is a grown up Peppermint Patty with her girlfriend......you know who. the one who always calling her 'Sir'.
So, I doubt Charles Swartz, the creator, did not mean to actually put her out "there" like that, but, she sure seems like it. I mean, Lucy liked playing football and was kind of tough, but, P.P. seemed more to be the "butch" type.

She's a tomboy. The lesbian thing was a joke on Family Guy.

No. Charles Schultz drew her too young to have any sexuality. Don't sexualize kids, even in cartoons. Look what happened to JonBenet Ramsey.
