Salamanders come in a few categories- semi-aquatic, terrestrial, and burrowing. You need to figure out the species first so you can find the care guidelines. Try googling '(your state) salamanders' (or amphibians) to see if it helps- a nearby state's list will help also.

As far as care- first, think about letting it go. it is tough on an animal to be captured and removed from its native habitat- they do nto do as well as a captive-bred speciman would.

If you decide to keep it anyway, use the specis name ot search for a good care sheet.

Good luck!

OK if you are going to keep it i would say get a 10 gallon tank for it, give it a pool of water and feed it crickets pin-head to medium sized crickets. put about 2 inch's of dirt in the cage. don't give it light. clean the cage every 7 months about. for treats give it slugs, if you can find any in your back yard. if you don't want to keep it use a box and raise it until its big enough to survive in the wild.also don't listen to the idiots that say it wont live if you keep it! cuz just to let them know i found to baby salamanders 5 years ago and they died last month. so shut your mouths you idiots that don't know crap. also to you idiots all salamanders have samanila its not a disease to them (it doesn't hurt the salamanders) and you wont get it unless you suck on your hands after touching it. plus it will just make you throw up and have the runs (diarrhea)

I would just let it go because they can be kinda difficult to care for captured form the wild but if you must keep it go to a pet store, bring the slamander with you, ask someone there what spieces of salamander it is what kind of care it requires

Return it to where they captured it.
It will probably die otherwise.
If your brother wants a pet, go to you parents and let them know.
If they say yes, research the type of pet he wants & is OK with your parents. After reading all you can about that type of animal, ask your parents to take you to a petstore.

call a pet store.

You should start asking around for an old fish aquarium to make
an envrionment for the little guy.

When he gets big let him go and get a couple of turtles.

Ecologically, keeping it is the same as killing it, since it wont produce offspring in the wild. Release it at a creek or stream.

Find a damp place outside and let it go. It won't live if you keep it.
