i recommend Trend PC-Cillin over Mcafee or NAV. I also recommend a good antispyware program, like Webroots Spysweeper. as long as you maintain, these should be enough (but where everyone goes wrong, is they do not maintain, they do not update or scan regularly)

There are no set number of security programs that you should run to protect your computer. Even if you were running 100 programs, there is no guarantee that you're absolutely protected. However, I would suggest running at least 3 different types of programs so that there is a greater probablility that it will protect you from a security threat. It is also low enough not to give you too many "false positives", stuff that your security programs think is a problem but really isn't.

You will notice that many people will recommend Mcafee and Norton, other highly marketed security brands. I personally think they dont work good at all. I recommend you get Bitdefender 9 Internet Security. Also. you should have one or two antispyware programs. Anything else is wasting ur resources on your computer.

I'll recommend the following.
Anti Virus - avg
Firewall - zone alarm
Pop up blocker - google toolbar
Anti spyware - ewido

Dont use products that basically do the same thing. For instance you already have Mcafee, dont install another anti-virus also unless you uninstall Mcafee first

Antivirus: I use McAfee if u want a free one, try AVG or Avast (Google em)
Firewall: ZoneAlarm
AntiSpyware: A combination of the latest highest rated, Spyware Search & Destroy, Spyware Doctor, Adaware
Miscellaneous: Just ditch internet explorer and start using firefox, its got a built in pop up blocker and your spam level falls down to 20 percent, its a lifesaver

Mcafee should cover it all. I use Norton security suite, and since I have had it I would not use any thing else. You only need one good security program on your computer.

You should run anti-virus, pop up blocker, spyware blocker and remover, and a firewall. Each one protects you from different things. I also advise not to use Mcafee or Norton. Both are so bloted with crap you do not need, it bogs down the system.

You need to learn properly. All the advice on here is good, but you should make an informed decision about what you need and should use. What works of someone might not work for you. Go here and read this site. If you do take the time to read it, you will be very glad you did and have, much more, knowledge than most on this and other forums.

The more you run might not be better, might just bog down your pc. I would recommend Panda software suite. Mcafee is a piece of crap and just slows down your computer anyways. That is just my opinion.
