It's a long process. Sorry, but there is a reason for it. There are people from over there trying to come over here and do dumb stuff like fly planes into buildings. We're trying to stop that. In the meantime, the wait for everyone wanting to come to the US is stretched out.

If your situation is what you say, you're caught in the middle. But you do have options. Your wife could join you. You could go to another country and work with AAFES there. You didn't say what your skills are, but if you are a skilled professional, you might be able to get into the US on an H-1B visa.

The other thing you could do that would help you and everyone else is to work to get the other folks who live where you are to say "Enough!" to the idiot extremists who are doing this crap. Until the people there stand up as a group and tell those nutcases to knock it off, and MAKE THEM STOP, this will continue.

We'd like to see this stop too. Much of the world is effectively unsafe for most westerners as a result of this crap. But when things change so that the countries in the part of the world where you are start publicly executing people like Osama bin Laden rather than selling his photo on posters like he is a rock star, the world will be a better place for all of us.

The best thing to do is for your wife to get an inmigration lawyer, you can find one that wont charge more than 3000 and most let you make payment. They get your green card and fast. Meanwhile why doesnt she come live with you, move to Mexico close to the border so she can go if she need to and good luck!

Ask your wife to write a letter to her congressman requesting his/her help. That's what I did when waiting for my wife to get off of "administrative hold". About 3 weeks later, her visa was issued.
