...what the better areas of the city, or nice surrounding cities that I should consider moving to? I'm going this weekend to celebrate my 21st birthday, but I also wanted to go and look for apartments while I was there. I've searched online, but they don't tell you the good ares from the bad ones.

Yeah, Ichi...I was considering Henderson too. It's a little bit more expensive out there, but the crime rates are considerably lower than Vegas. I just want out of California! It's ridiculous here.

I'm planning on starting my own daycare business out there. So all those people working in the casinos have some place to drop their kids off while they go out to bars after work so they can have a drink and enjoy conversations with you.

Aaahh Are the girl behind the bubble...

One of my best mate lives in Henderson, NV....a mere couple of miles away...

I have been to stay with her a couple of times when I have gone to Vegas and love the area....it is a nice quiet leafy suburb really close to the madness: great mix of both!

there are some casinos on hand too, quiet cordial not-in-your-face ones...so many people who work in and around the casinos and show business end of Vegas live in Henderson that the bars in the Henderson Casinos late at night are full of the most interesting people having a drink after they have finished work

...the dancers, the travelling performers, the croupiers etc., all sexy as hell, mad as cheese and all on a mission to get hammered...I have made some great friends and wacky people at these bars after hours....plus made crap loads of money without getting deafened and blinded by the glitzier hotels casinos...

I would say Henderson, Summerlin or Southwest area. Don't live near the UNLV (or the community college near Charleston and Rainbow) unless your have to. Aren't they building newer developments in North Las Vegas. I thought certain parts of North Las Vegas was getting nicer.

I know San Diego has a police website where you can see what/how many crimes are being committed in different neighborhoods. Does Las Vegas?

Go visit a place before you commit to living a place.

I've thought about moving to Las Vegas too. I have visited there & know NOT to live near the strip. When I got onto the highway (going towards te Grand canyon), there looked like a new area was being built. A bunch of new homes (townhouses).

I have been told that the south / southwest of the city was best, but go as far away from the strip that your money will allow you.

There is a free book call apartment locator that you can get almost anywhere here in Las Vegas, as far a the best place to live that all depends on what you can afford. You can check on line for crime statics in most areas - the best advice I can give you is find one in your price line and talk to other residence in the area - their can be night and day difference between two complexes that are side by side.

PS Your going to love living in Las Vegas, its the best city.

As far as cities around Las Vegas you're kind of limited to Henderson or North Las Vegas. I would NOT recommend living North Las Vegas as it generally isn't a very nice part of town.

Southwest is nice
Northwest is nice
most parts of Henderson are nice

Don't live too close to the strip - that area isn't very safe and the traffic is horrible. You'll want good freeway access because the town is sprawling like mad.

My sister lives in Sandy Valley, west of Vegas. She likes it there. There are some really bad parts to avoid in Vegas at all costs.

The BEST place to live in Vegas- or anywhere ELSE for that matter- is wherever you like that you can afford. It's as simple as that!
