Sadly, China has an advantage because they don't worry about the political repecussions of dealing with governments like Iran, Cuba, and North Korea, that we won't deal with for political reasons.

We can't win a war with the unarmed Iraq which was weakened by a decade of economic sanctions. How could we possibly hope to win against an economically vibrant China?

U.S. I think has burned A LOT of bridges in African countries, S. America and Asia... these will come be more and more important in the "war" as you put it and turn the tide in China's favor I fear...
