I was quite surprised to find out that crawling is not even on most standard developmental charts as a milestone. As I thought about my own 4 kids and the many kids I have provided daycare for over the last 20 years, I have seen everything from commando style crawling to scootching around on little round bottoms to rolling to get where the little one wanted to go. My son and my oldest daughter were 8 months when they could really crawl in a way to get themselves where they wanted. My middle daughter was crawling all over at 6 1/2 months and walked by herself at 10 months. My youngest was born when her siblings were 18, 15, and 12 and she just didn't have any reason to go anywhere on her own steam with so many willing arms to take her where she wanted to go. Plus, she was just so darn cute and irresistible when she raised her arms up to you to be picked up!! When she was 1 year old she scooted around on her bottom and finally got up the desire to walk when she was 15 months old. She did start to crawl on her knees and hands when she was 13 months old. She's 9 now and perfectly healthy and active. Spoiled rotten, though.

My daughter is 10 months old and just started crawling, although she was born with physical special needs and has needed therapy to get this far. Every child hits these milestones at different ages. My son was 6 months old when he started crawling. If you are concerned that your child should be crawling by now you can either wait and see if he/she does it in a few months, or talk to your childs doctor about it to see if there might be something physical thats preventing him/her from doing it. And when he/she does crawl, you will rejoice at the milestone, but also find out about everything at thier level that you need to put up because they will get into it, lol. Good luck and hope you get the answer you are lookin for.

My daughter at 6 months. My son at almost 8 months. My daughter walked at 9 1/2 months. Son at 12 months. Every child is different. A girlfriend of mine, her younger brother never crawled. He went from sitting to walking at 7 months.

newborns don't crawl. infants do. my little baby has crawled since 6 and 1/2 months old. not all babies crawl. some babies walk at nine months. every baby is an individual and will crawl/walk at their own pace. most babies that crawl usually will crawl as early as 5 months or as late as nine months of age. my lil one crawls really fast now.
