I'm pretty sure it was Mariah Carey with her $80+ million contract with Virgin Records. Before Mariah I believe it was Janet Jackson, also with Virgin. If I had to guess #3, I'd say Madonna.

I think they gave her 80 million to start ,and then when her album and movie bomd they gave her another 28 million to cancel the contract.
