Society controls everything. Everyone living in a society, (which is everyone actually), lives according to it and its norms.
People born into farming communities become farmers.
People born into cannibalistic tribes live as cannibals.
People born into high-tech societies like ours live high-tech.
Animals adapt into their enviroments, and are controlled by it, and they have to make the most out of it. Or natural selection takes the good of them.
Likewise, people's entire minds, ideologies, lifestyles, basic morals, etc. are the way they are due to the society they live in.
If we were born into a primitive tribe. We would be primitives and would be spear-hunting and eating raw animals. And we would think it's okay.
The society we live in now controls many of our aspects. The way we make of it...makes us individuals.

Yes its called communism, dictatorship, and totalitarianism, Im not going to go into a long drawn out explanation about how each of these control's people's very existance, but know that these types of government do.
Im not aware of what country you live in but if you have access to the internet i can guess you live in a country with a democratic government...... so be thankful that these types of society are on their way to extinction
