Okay, I'm an HR person.

DO NOT LIE - you will get found out. That will get you FIRED and a bad reference.

You don't need to explain about your depression - just that you had the opportunity to stay home with your baby for a little while, but now you are ready to get back into the workforce. Most people think that's a wonderful thing if you can stay home for a little while.

If you want a chance to "brush up" on your skills, I'd register with any of the larger temp agencies - you can go into their offices and practice common programs that you may have gotten rusty on.

Good luck!!!

DO NOT LIE ON YOUR RESUME. If they find out you lie that is automatic termination. You can find resume templetes on line. Generally you put your goal, job history, education, special skills, things like that.

If anyone asks just say you had a baby two years ago and you took time off to be with your baby. You don't have to go into detail that is sufficient. You don't need to let them know you were depressed etc.

Apply away. Most people do not see not working in two years as a problem. Just keep on applying. It honestly might take you a bit to find a job but just keep at it.

If you apply you are not going to be any worse off than you were. Hey you'll get a few phone calls.

If you don't apply you are no worse off. It is always worth a shot I mean what is the worse that is going to happen?

Be completely truthful and honest on all resumes and applications.

Use a resume format that focuses on the SKILLS YOU HAVE instead of the POSITIONS YOU'VE HELD. Emphasize the talents, skills, and creativity you've put to use in the 2 years you were raising your child. Having a child is a life altering experience and I'm sure you've gained significant skills and knowledge because of it. Also, overcoming severe depression is no small feat. Though you don't have to address the depression on your resume, I'm willing to bet you've grown personally in the past few years and could translate this into useful on-the-job skills.
List actual positions you've held, but only in a small section of the resume. When it comes down to it, employers want to know that you have the knowledge and ability to perform their specific job...it doesn't so much matter where you got the skills from.
New college grads and people who've been out of the workforce often use this type of resume format. Good luck!

Just leave the space blank and explain that you were out because of childcare. DO NOT say anything about the depression. Most employers will understand taking time off for the sake of the child.
You have to understand that you will most likely not go back in to the workforce on the same level you left, position and pay wise, because of the gap in employment. You will have to work your way back up the ladder with hard work and dedication. You will have to prove yourself.
As long as you have solid job references and you gave notice at your previous jobs and didn't just walk out, then you should have too much of a problem getting back in on some level.

PLZ NEVER lie in ur resume, just put ur skills and objective properly and be honest, u have not committed any crime, infact family should always be a priority and accepting this is a very mature sign :)

Regardless of your history-the best positions that exist are in internet marketing. The companies care about the here and now. You get paid when you work hard. You get zero when you do zero. Your first few months will be low income months. If your ambitous, and like people, there is no ceiling.

since staying home to raise a baby is a normal and decent thing to do, why even mention the depression? heck, just pretend you haven't worked because you wanted to give your child her birthright, a mother's arms and mother's nearly 24/7 care for 3 to 5 years.

Lie on your resume, and you'll remain unemployed.
