I went into a video game store before and the manager there i think put a chip into the ps2 and, he explained that i can just rent games from a video store and save them into the ps2 and return them and have a library of games, and i can delete them too. What is this called, a chip right? or is it something else?

Short answer - You cant

Longer answer, but might help you...

Theres a program called HD advance, which runs from your PC to your PS2 and you play it that way. I dont know the exact specifics on what you may need to purchase but www.afterdawn.com has forums for this exact topic. Playing BACKUPS is not illegal, playing downloaded games is. He never stated he was going to be playing downloaded games, now did he?

1 - You cant save games on a PS2. it does NOT have a hard drive. The xbox has one though.
2 - A mod chip allows you to play copied discs. Not all mod chips allow harware modification. As for the PS2 - the only modding you can do with a chip is to circumvent the copy protection
3 - Installing a mod-chip is NOT illegal. It's just not allowed by the biggies who want to get rich off your money.
