I've seen it a few times and I must say I've gotten to like it. Every time you see it there's something new and funny about it. I like the Soggy Bottom Boys when they are up on stage singing and George Clooney pulls down his beard to show his wife who he is.

You walked out? That was the best period piece i had seen in a long time. One of my favorite parts was when two of the friends thinks the other has been turned into a toad.
A few corrections to fellow answerers.
#1. its Dapper Dan
#2. The movie is based on the Oddysey, by Homer

I liked the movie. It does take a while to get into it. I like it when they are seduced by the river chicks. Especially when they think that the one guy is a toad. That cracks me up. There were a lot of funny parts of the movie and it is definitely a movie that almost anyone can watch. Even my grandparents enjoyed it.

I love at the end how George Cloney(cant spell it) is back with his wife and she wants the ring from the bottom of the lake and the children are walking alone singing that song. Plus where the soggy bottom boys make there first on stage appearance and eveyone goes wild and they are wondering what the?

I like the Coen Bros, but rated this flick least of all theirs. Still, the Coens always manage to entertain, and it certainly had enough to keep me in the theater, and to re-watch it again at home. Of course, I loved the old time music, and got the reference/homage to the Carter Family (singers on the stake bed truck). (My dad used to tell me about seeing the Carters doing shows like that, on a stake bed truck.) Ditto the reference to Robert Johnson and the Crossroads, and other MS bluesmen. I also got a laugh out of the picnic scene, when John Goodman dispensed the lesson to the boys (gotta love that JG.)
So, it was a Coen Bros flick and worth a watch, but not as well crafted as their gems like Miller's Crossing, Raising Arizona, Blood Simple and The Big Lebowski. Not to forget Fargo and Barton Fink.
What's their next project?

This movie has multiple allusions to and is a tribute to Homer's Odyssey. John Goodman is the Cyclops; the women by the water are the sirens; George Clooney is Odysseus the hero who comes to his wife in disguise, etc, etc.

I own it actually, it's one of my favourites. George Clooney's character is really good, but I can't pick a specific part that I liked, it was a great film start to end.
