It's cheaper to hire someone to drive it, try searching the internet for "drive away" or the like. Make him make the arrangements, and deal with the customs issues - Especially if you can't spell Montreal (haha).

If you ship by land (rail or transport) it will cost $$$. But of course, it can be done. Again, try searching transport companies and asking around.

FYI - emmissions and safety features are different (higher) in Canada than in the US, the car may have to be altered, or a penalty to register it. In the end, unless it is a collectable, it might not cheaper at all.

My understanding is that most US spec cars can can be brought used into Canada, but the vehicle will need to be brought up to the Canadian codes (such as have DRLs installed). Check first to see if you can even bring the vehicle in...

There are some car transporter companies, but there is also the fly and drive method (DIY).

Don't forget about notifying US Customs and the Canada Border people, and to fill out the appropriate taxes and duties...

There must be some reason he can't buy a car in Canada - It REALLY doesn't sound like a good idea.
