The engine makes a clicking sound when its idling but only when in neutral. I'm pretty sure its the clutch seeing as it only does it in neutral but is there something wrong with it or is it normal?

While the bike is idling, remove the oil fill cap (be careful of oil spraying out). Is the sound louder? That will help narrow down whether the noise is coming from the top or bottom end of the motor. If the noise is in the bottom, could be something wrong with the transmission. A bent shift fork or worn shift drum could allow a couple of gears on the same shaft to come in contact with each other. Only while in neutral.
If you want to check this, while the bike is idling, pull in the clutch lever. Gently move the shift lever up or down just enough to not shift gears. Do you hear the same ticking noise? Or is it going down or getting louder? If there's no change, than the trani is probably OK.

i dont know what kind of bike you have, but i have the same thing with my ATV- i have an 2005 yamaha raptor, and when i pull the clutch in when its idling in neutral it wont click, but when i let it out and it idles in neutral it clicks lightly, i can actually hear a difference. it might just be normal, i was puzzled myself, hope you can find out... goodluck!!

I sounds like normal clutch wear.

shut it off when idling and use your kick start to save basttery life if you are going only a short distance, or staring it right back up after shutting it off less than 15 minutes ago
