The doors are unlocked but the button to open the trunk won't work unless the car is on. What else can I do, besides a locksmith? The car has an alarm but it is not set.

You might try talking to your dealership. Be sure to have all your information with you...title, bill of sale...some proof of ownership, and be sure to have your vin number. Most dealerships can cut you a new key from that. If your vehicle has a security key (chip in the head...it will have a thick grey head on the key), they are expensive. BUT, you won't need one of those. Just a regular key blank will work for your trunk and doors...don't try it in your ignition though. It can cause problems and you will have to have your car towed to the dealer. IF your original key has a thinner black head, then everything will be all right, and you will have a spare key. Non-chip keys at the dealership where I work are only $3.00+tax.

Strnage that your trunk button only works with keys in ignition. Sounds like a wiring problem on that issue...Anyways, if you don't have a spare key, you may have to end up getting a locksmith to get your trunk popped. Or see if the convertible has space to get to the trunk area from there. Hope its down at least.

try folding down the back seat and crawl thru, if your seats don't fold down, push back on the bottom of the back seat and pull up, then you can unbolt the upper part of the back seat. the other thing you can do is run a wire on your fuse block from a battery source fuse to a ignition source fuse this will hot wire the trunk button
