First of all you need to seriously believe in yourself when writing your resume, or at a job interview. You must first convince yourself, and have a positive attitude and confidence before even applying for the job. Then once you get there, point out that even though you don't have experience, you BELIEVE you are right for the job, and that they NEED YOU!! Confidence means the world, not just the experience! Go for it!!

You generally don't. Certifications are only worth a damn if you have experience to back them up.

A paper MCSE/CCNA/etc without experience will get an entry level position or, at best, 2nd tier tech support. That's assuming the guy doing the hiring has a clue. I have worked in shops where a Certificate Commando made it into a real position but they almost always get fired within the first 6 months.

My suggestion is to contact a few headhunters/Technical temp agencies and see what they have that you are actually qualified for(notice i said QUALIFIED for, not certified for). Once you have the job in the industry, mention your certs and ask for more responsibility.

Check my profile...I know of which I speak.

Having the education is VERY important don't discount your education versus someone with years of experience and no education. What you need to focus on if you want to get your foot into the door is your interviewing skills. My suggestion is that you go to your career development counslor in school and ask to help prep you for interviews. Or if that is not an option, start networking with your friends or friends of you parents and ask them to do some mock interviews with you and then critique you.

Remember it's not always what you know but how you present what you know. Good luck!!

You won't start out as a N/A. You'll start much lower on the totem poll mastering the basic skills you'll need to serve your corporate lord. After a few years experience and keeping up with your certs and obtaining new certs, you will then be able to develop new skills and hopefully exploit them and your employers trust while you hold their netowork hostage....er I mean, negotiate for a better salary/position.
