It is not a movie for someone that likes mainstream movies, most people that I know that like it love independent film work. I liked it, thought it was a great concept.

It's only scary if you have a really good imagination. A lot of people did NOT find the movie at all scary because they are used to massive amounts of blood/gore and blatant scare tactics. Anyway, I quite enjoyed the film and did find it rather eerie. Just don't expect blood and gore. The scariness of it comes from the unknown and what might be. On the other hand, the Blair Witch II was a more traditional horror film and was "average scary" in comparison to other movies of this genre. I'd give it a 5 out of 10 for scariness. The Blair Witch (first movie) was an 8 out of 10 for scariness for me.

I loved it, but then again I saw it before they told everyone it was a movie.
Originally the movie came out saying that it was a video tape they found of 3 people that had gone out in search of the Blair Witch, wanting to make a documentary of the sightings in an old house. These 3 people got lost and weird things started happening and this documentary shows all of that. The people were never seen again......that is what they told everyone in the beginning. Seeing it was scary as hell!
Back when it was released they even had TV specials and stuff saying they found the camp site, and backpacks in the woods, and talked to family members and everything. They made it seem like all of it REALLY happened.
It is still worth watching, but a little cheesy, but still scary as all get out.

Its where a bunch of teens go into the woods with a video camera to do a project on the Blair witch. I thought it was stupid and not scary at all.

It's a mockumentary. It appears to be a documentary even if one is fairly alert, but it's not. It is a horror film in which a few kids, on their quest for the truth behind "The Blair Witch" legend, gets lost in a forest with a movie camera, and a little food and stuff. Then strange things begin to happen. They start vanishing one by one, and feels like something or somebody is perpetually stalking them. I won't give away the end, but it's a brilliant movie. And yes, it's very very scary.

It is nothing but a boring documentary about 3 teens learning about the blair witch history. It was not scary at all.

An independent "mockumentary" film that is basically ad-libbed and is one long swear fest about 3 stupid people lost in the woods that isn't in the least scary until the last few seconds jump start your heart and it's over. It had such potential and could have been a million times better without any extra costs if the makers had given it more thought!

I also saw it when everybody thought it was real, so yes, it was very scary at the time. But I think if you watch it knowing it's not real, it's not going to seem very scary...creepy, maybe. It's about two guys and a girl who go out in the woods looking for a potentially real witch; they start out all gung-ho and unafraid but gradually start believing in the witch. It's like a documentary. It came out in 1999.

It is a movie about some people that went out into the woods to find the 'blair witch.' Once they are out there, they find sticks tied together and an old house. It is done to look like someone just 'found' the footage that the people took with their camera before they disappeared. In the beginning, there are some 'interviews' with local people to find out about the witch.

If you are afraid of tied to gether sticks, bad acting, and seeing someone's boogers, I would not watch this movie. If you are not afraid of the above, but have something exciting to do like clip your toenails, I would not watch this movie.

It's only scary if you think it's based on a true story. They made alot of money with this film and good for them. Alot of people think it's true. But if you watch it. Take notice of how desperate they are to get out of this place. There is one shot where they are in the woods. And its day time ok? If you listen careful you can hear a private plane go over. I think if i wanted to high tail it out that bad i would be screaming and waving my arms at the plane. lol. Thats the one blooper in that film. I enjoyed it. But did not care for part 2.
Take care.
