Yes, vinegar will cure a strep throat and also prevent food poisoning (anytime the freezer goes out and you suspect something could be spoiled but not quite sure, drink vinegar prior to eating it.)
I have done this for 30 years and never gotten sick when eating questionable food after electric shortages--for more information, see book Folk Medicine by Dr. D.C. Jarvis).
In this book, he also talks about sores throats and other cures from vinegar. Bragg's apple cider vinegar book is another good resource.
To take it, be sure to use raw, organic apple cider vinegar (available at health food stores, coops, and health food sections of supermarkets like Kroger's--two brand names are Bragg's and Spectrum)
Put about 2 finger widths of vinegar in glass, add water (filtered best), and either sea salt or raw honey (IF YOU DON'T USE RAW HONEY AND RAW VINEGAR, IT STILL MIGHT WORK) I have used both but the raw is by far the best for human consumption.
Sip this..don't chug it. gaggle and then swallow, sipping it like coffee all day long.

As a pharmacist I usually recommend Peroxyl mouth rinse by Colgate, or one of the Listerene products to kill germs most effectively. The Jarvis book listed above does tout the many virtues of cider vinegar...

I don't know about vinegar. I do know that 1000 mg. of Vitamin C every 2 hours, all day until you go to bed, should eliminate the symptoms by the following morning.
