I'm writing a paragraph about a poem called "Older", which is about the author doesn't want to stop believing in witches and saints. And the public opinions is telling him to quit believing in it. so can i say the public opinions are telling him to believe in science instead?? it's due tomorrow!!!

Science is based on fact or observable circumstances. Witches and Saints would deal and exist on a different level of existance but they would cross science when their actions are observed by the physical senses. As far as cause and effect, witches wouldn't fit into that scientific area. You would have to show or contrast the differences between the physical world with meta-physical or beliefs. I like the idea of science (physical) fighting/clashing with witches and saints (who are above the chains and limitations of the physical/mundane). Good luck with your poem.

When you write about something you need to stick to the topic of the material. This poem is about peer pressure, not religion vs. science. If you say the friends are telling him to believe in science instead you are compromising your impartiality and revealing bias. To tell someone not to believe in something is not the same thing as telling them to believe in something else.
