The Importance Of Prenatal Vitamins
By Beverley Brooke

One of the most important things you can do if you are thinking about becoming pregnant is start taking a prenatal vitamin with at least 400mg of folic acid. Folic acid is an essential nutrient that can help prevent birth defects in newborns. If you start taking a prenatal supplement before you even try to become pregnant, you will have the best chance of ensuring a happy and healthy journey once you become pregnant.
Prenatal vitamins are packed full of nutrients that will help support and nourish your growing child and your body during pregnancy. Most women assume that they need a prescription to acquire prenatal vitamins. There are actually however many high quality prenatal vitamin supplements you can purchase over the counter. If you are not certain what your best choice is, be sure to consult with your healthcare provider who can point you in the right direction.
If you aren't engaging in regular exercise prior to pregnancy, you'll find it is more difficult though not impossible to start exercising during pregnancy when you are already feeling bulky and tired. Therefore one of the best things you can do to prepare for pregnancy is start exercising regularly. You don't have to join the Boston Marathon, but even walking around the block a few times per week will help tone and condition your body and help you prepare for the journey ahead.
Women who regularly engage in some form of exercise before and during pregnancy are more likely to experience quicker and less problematic labors. That is a good enough reason in and of itself to start exercising as soon as you can.

Prenatal vitamins are very important. Most women don't get all the nutrients that they need without vitamins and with a baby the mother needs even more vitamins to help promote growth of the baby. It is best to give the baby all the advatanges that you can for them to be healthy. If vitamins make you sick or you have trouble swallowing pills I found a prenatal vitamin that is in liquid form that tastes good and doesn't make me sick. Its called source of life prenatal liquid. It is made by Nature's plus.

I think that diets were different when your mom would have had children, food was more nutritious because it has been messed around with since, what with all the genetic modification that goes on. Therefore, it was more likely that you would get the right nutrients from your food.

Either that, or people feel more pressured into taking vitamins now because of the so-called experts who claim it's better for you. But we do live in age where it's considered normal not to have three square meals a day, or to go out with out breakfast etc, so because of this, the use of vitamins in general is more relied upon, but more so especially for pregnant women.

Doctors recommend that you do. It supplies you with all the important vitamins that your baby needs to grow healthy inside your womb. Of course for years many people did not.. but back then the small birth weight/undernourished babies were more common. Maybe there is a connection there. If you have a very healthy diet full of all essential vitamins, ecspecially folic acid, then maybe you could do without them. Ask your doctor before making a final decision.

It is very important to take them. Even if you eat a healthy diet. Our soil is lacking in some key nutrients (unfortunately) it wasn't always this way but what we have done to the environment has caused this.

Saying "my sisters and brother are fine" does not mean a thing. My grandpa smoked for 60 years and is alive and very healthy at almost 90. Doesn't mean that smoking is fine.

What I am trying to say is that you never know if your baby will be fine or not if you don't take them. But really, why risk it?

Yes, they are very important in my opinion. They give the baby the nutrients it needs to grow strong and is a big help to those who don't eat right. Also they are important to you because that precious baby will take the vitamins/nutrients it needs right out of your system and leave you depleted.

They are just another reason why more babies are being born stronger and healthier now a days. It is important. You should give your baby all you can give. If they make you sick take them at night right before bed. Also you could take flinstones instead, but you have to double up, I would ask your doctor. I don't even know if you're pregnant, but if you are talk to your ob about your options.

It is essential. Taking vitamins (especially before you get pregnant) can help to avoid certain birth defects like spina bifida. You need ample amounts of folic acid and other things that you may not get enough of in the foods you eat.

It's recommended, but a lot of women don't. Take me for instance. I was very sick from the vitamins so the doctor took me off of them and gave me a diet to go by. My daughter was very healthy
