NONE of my friends are finished yet-- I have to talk to someone about this!!

I loved those books! But I can't believe Flagg was Martin? They didn't match up at all in my head.

I thought what a cheap way for Flagg to die - he deserved a much more spectacular death in my opinion - it was far too easy! Plus I think the character of Mordred was somewhat superfluous to the whole story.

At first the ending didn't sit well with me at all, but after much afterthought it does seem appropriate. The journey may be over for us....but not for Roland!

In saying all this, the series is one of the best things I have ever read and gave me hours of pleasure and escapism.

Long days and pleasant nights to you!

It DOES allow you to realize. The Tower is Gan, the author, he who tells the tale. Roland has reached the tower. It seems that the tower is HIS tale, each floor a financial ruin. hence, even as he reaches the right, it really is NOW. yet even as IS now? now could be even as Stephen (who calls himself Gan's voice contained in the sixth e book) begins to inform Roland's tale. back contained in the Gunslinger. this is recursive. yet, and there is continuously a yet, Roland's quest isn't an empty one. He has to carry the Horn of Gilead back to the Tower. (imagine of Neo returning to the source contained in the Matrix). in ordinary words this time, Roland did not have it. So, he were given despatched on a recursive loop. yet now HE HAS THE HORN. So, the actual question is, what takes position seven books from now, even as Roland reaches the Tower WITH THE HORN? and that is what makes Stephen King a carry close storyteller. He in no way tells the right of the tale, and leaves it as a lot as you.

I was disappointed because Jake & Eddy died but was glad at the end when Jake, Eddy & Susannah all met up in the other where/when. I was also pretty let down when Roland opened the last door and was back where he started. After some thought I finally realized that Roland had learned something and that maybe he wouldn't have to do it over again the next time. Meanwhile, the door is open & maybe we will meet again. Long days and pleasant nights.

Bad ending. A rush job to finish a task that was obviously plagueing him (as is apparent in the book.) After Wolves of the Calla, it was hard to write another as good. The last book was disappointing to me. Too many loose ends and hurry up scenes. The Chap was a big let down. It seemed like the Chap was going to be so much more and then kind of fizzled out. But maybe it was good for everybody for King to get the job done. I got tired of waiting all those years for new books in the series.

I liked the ending. I wasn't surprised at all that Flagg was Martin. What was a bit of a let down for me was the way Flagg died. To me it was abrupt and anti-climatic. I was wanting the fall of Randall Flagg to be spectacular.

At first I didn't like the ending. I thought, what a rip off. I mean, he has to go through it all over again? That's not an ending!

But then I re-read the whole series again, and it fit. And it did show that Roland had learned a little from his mistakes.

I loved the series and all the characters.

The first "ending" really sucked. And then there was the "continued ending"... and I felt ripped off. I put in all that time to read it, and it starts over....?! eh. And I think that for a horror writre, King writes death really bad. He needs to put more emotion in his writing. That would make the whole thing better. Everyone died to easy! It didn't really fell like it was a struggle to get to the Dark Tower at all... BOO!!!

I loved the series after I finished the last one. I almost gave up after the third one. The third one didn't seam to be written in the same way as the first two. The ending was perfect!!!!

I read all but 2 of them. I'm a big King fan, but couldn't help but feel a bit let down at the end.King is quixotic though, and just might fool us and bring Roland back again one day.
