We live in an old wartime home with original hardwood floors, they are starting to look pretty dull. I am just looking for an easier way to do them, other than sanding, stripping etc. Any good ideas???

WAIT, before you call someone, a friend of mine uses a gallon of urethane and a roller on a long handle. She clears out the rooms in the morning, vacuums the floors, starts at the far end of the room and works her way toward the door. Within a few hours - yes, a few hours, her floors look shiny and new. THAT'S IT. Don't be afraid to try in. She does this every couple of years. It really gives her century old floors a face lift.

If they aren't scratched, or very superficial scratches, wash floor with mineral spirits on an old towel. Get up all the dust and re-varnish with two coats of oil based floor varnish. Like Mcklosky's, Varathane or Benjamin Moore.

Hey enod, there is no lead in a clear finish. Lead was used as a pigment. Get it CLEAR = NO PIGMENT

We redid the floors in our house when I was a teenager. We rented a sander and took off maybe 1/8th of an inch. then washed everything down and put on 3 coats of urethane. It really wasn't that hard and I think it only took us a week from start to finish, including time for the urethane to cure.

There is no easy way......You can do it yourself, but it is a grusome job. Refinishing them will be worth all the work you do, or pay someone to do. Just do one room at a time, stand back and look....you will love it! Good sanding.

if u sand, beware that old paint dust has lead that, if not cleaned thoroughly will stirr in the room air & is really bad 4 kids. room should be sealed & supercleaned after. vents, masks, clothes. big hassle to contain the dust. good luck.

There is no easy way. If you can afford it, hire a professional. If not, doing it yourself is almost impossible without the specialized equipment.

NOTHING EASY IF YOU WANT NICE LOOKING FLOORS,IFTHEY HAVE MINOR SCRATCHES
YOU CAN TRY BUFFING THEM OUT AND POLISHING
OTHERWISE GET OUT THE BIG SANDER
GOOD LUCK

Hire some one.

(As far as I know, there is no "easy way". It's all pretty crappy hard work.)
