The country would go through a rough economic period as we recover from the imbalance caused by illegal workers.

The good thing is that employers will be forced to pay the prevailing wage and those companies who've been surviving by paying unethical wages will be driven out of business, as they should be.

In the end we'll probably have less fast food restaurants, fewer landscape companies, and more expensive new constuction, but it'll be better for the economy because the lowest end of the salary spectrum will no longer be undermined by crimiinals who'll pack a bunch of guys into a small apartment so that they can send their money out of the country.

FYI, beware of arguments that are in favor of granting amnesty. Keep in mind that the US, Canada, and Mexico are quietly working on the SPP (Security and Prosperity Partnership) that is integrating our militaries, our economies, and our borders. This is taking place without the general knowledge of the US citizens who woyuld be extremely upset by a system that integrates us without a vote, rendering our Constitution no longer sovereign or supreme for US law. Bush's plan for amnesty is a requirement before this process can be complete by 2010 as promised, because it will be innefective when millions of undocumented workers remain as the borders are opened.

In other words, the current amnesty plan is not humanitarian in nature. It's part of a lerger plan to form North America into a single economic region with open borders and eventually an appointed government who would overrule our government, similar to the appointed EU Parliament.

Your question either needs to be clearer or more specific. Immigrants are not a problem in the United States. It is the illegal immigrants who work and don't pay taxes, use the gov't systems for financial help, and they lower the standard of work in the United States. It is against the law and no matter how "nice you are," you are still a criminal breaking a federal law and should be punished, accordingly.

Go to Blockbuster and rent "A Day Without A Mexican", you get a taste of what might happen (that's just about Mexicans but you can just imagine, just think of all the jobs that people from different countries do. Have you gone to a restaurant lately? Pay attention the next time you go out to who is preparing your food, etc)

Only Native Americans (American Indians) would be left.Even the forefathers came from other countries. This country is made up and was built by immigrants, good immigrants and bad immigrants, but still immigrants. Ask your parents to show you where your grandparents and their grandparents came from.

LEGAL immigrants have entered into this country fairly and have every right to stay here. It's the ILLEGAL immigrants that are causing all of the discussion.

You may mean "migrants", not "immigrants". "Immigrants" have permission to stay in a foreign country; "migrants" probably is the new politically correct way to call illegal aliens.
